What people are saying about 3 Story Media
“In a world of sound bites and media blast, Gillian is a true professional who takes time to understand and communicate our story. During my time as president of the Southern Arizona Chapter of the American Institute of Architects she developed a public media campaign for our chapter that gained national recognition. Recently Gillian helped our firm of 60 years tell its story in a creative and delightful way. Our community is fortunate to have such a delightful and dedicated person who is devoted to her craft.” CN Dino Sakellar, AIA, President of Sakellar PLLC and past President of AIA Southern Arizona
“Besides being a delight to work with, Gillian is a consummate professional. She can not only be relied upon to write clear, concise and compelling copy, she has excellent skills in radio and television interviews, and has represented our non-profit brilliantly on many occasions. Gillian stays focused on the goal at hand and if one avenue is closed, she always comes up with another one and yet another after that one.” – Elaine Walsh, E Comm International
“Listen: You don’t need a PR consultant to duplicate; you need one who will do what you don’t even know you need. That’s why Gillian is perfect. She quickly assesses your PR situation. She amplifies your insights and abilities. She takes you where you’re not going on your own. And more than that, she’s a delightful and effective collaborator. She makes PR fun.” – Robert Miller, President, AIA Southern Arizona, Professor and Director of the School of Architecture at the University of Arizona.
3 Story Media newspaper series wins national award
A newspaper series developed by 3 Story Media for AIA Southern Arizona has won a national award and a Best Practice accolade.
My Favorite Places, which ran in the Arizona Daily Star during 2014, featured architects sharing essays about their favorite places and spaces in and around Southern Arizona. These included a derelict house in the desert, Tucson’s back alleys and a historic courtyard.
AIA Southern Arizona’s entry beat 25 others to win the Public Awareness Communications category of the American Institute of Architects’ annual Component Excellence Awards.
Judges praised the essays for giving architects a voice in the community and for raising awareness of architecture among the public. Said one judge: “The selections of often-overlooked buildings and places – rather than self-promotional choices – further stress to the public that architecture is all around them and is worthy of attention.”
Describing the series as “outstanding”, the American Institute of Architects plans to write the initiative up as a Best Practice and produce a video for its national website.
3 Story Media’s My Favorite Places series moves to the TV screens
A newspaper series developed by 3 Story Media has been turned into a series of TV shorts.
Favorite Places, written by members of the Southern Arizona chapter of the American Institute of Architects and produced by Arizona Public Media, made its debut in April on PBS 6 on its Arizona Illustrated show.
Favorite Places features 13 members of AIA Southern Arizona speaking thoughtfully and personally about a favorite building, place or space in Southern Arizona. The essays originally appeared as the My Favorite Place newspaper column throughout 2014 in the Arizona Daily Star.
The column recently won a national American Institute of Architects Component Excellence Award for raising public awareness of architecture.
